My birthday was on sunday

We went to Nobu for a lovely sushi lunch and some exciting fruity drinks. I got a bit merry on strawberry and peach martinis and everything was delicious. I’m a sushi fiend though, so I was dying to go there forever.

My mum’s exotic fruit plate (she’s a vegan, so no cake for her). Don’t ask me to name all the fruit!

Raspberry chocolate birthday cake that I finished off for breakfast.

I wore my new shoes for the first time and they absolutely murdered my feet. Killed them. I have four blisters! Bloody nightmare, I expect much better from miu miu. I’m just hoping I can break them in? Please god, let me break them in. Just look at them, they’re beautiful!

We saw lots of men with bowler hats on the way to the parade in Hyde Park on sunday. How great are bowler hats! I love them.

Today

I got caught in a bit of a storm while out running and came back like a drowned rat with a slightly damp ipod. It’s still working and I didn’t get struck by lightning, so I shouldn’t complain. I stayed in for the rest of the day madly drawing for a big project deadline this thursday. Busy busy.
There was the most amazing rainbow this afternoon. Sadly I failed to do it photographic justice because I was standing outside in slippers and getting my freshly blowdried fringe wet.

All this wisdom, it hurts me

Woo, wallpaper

I redrew this old drawing in Illustrator and snazzed it up a bit with a fancy jumper, which took forever because I’m woefully slow at Illustrator. It’s been my desktop for a while, so I thought I’d give it away to you guys too. And because I love you I even found out the most popular monitor resolutions and resized it accordingly:
800×600 (dark ages)
1024×768
1280×800 (macbook)
1280×1024
1440×900
1680×1050

Florals

Hurry up proper warm weather, I want to have picnics and barbeques and drinks at the riverside!
My camera remote was MIA for a while, but I found it while cleaning my room today. Sweet.

Bear with me

I made this little bear a few weeks ago and he’s been sitting on my desk since. He’s my first handmade stuffed animal and was lots of fun to make, though I made it up as I went along and thus made some really stupid mistakes. There was quite a bit of unpicking and swearing and accidentally stabbing myself with needles.

He’s for my uni project “Play” and I’m making lots of other stuffed creatures for him to hang out with. I’m going with an endangered-animal-made-out-of-recycled-materials theme, or making something nice out of rubbish, making animals precious and so on and so forth. Explaining it makes it sound a bit contrived and ridiculous, but alas, so is art school! The bear used to be a dustbag from a laptop case and some old pearl bracelets. He’s about 25cm long from bum to nose, in case you were wondering.

Now that I think of it, if anyone has any nice fabrics to donate to the stuffed animal project, I would love you to email me. I think I’m going to make a tapir next, they are so cute it’s obscene.

Ooh la la

I’ve got the travel bug lately huh! I’ve just come back from a long weekend in Beaune, France (pronounced BONE, oh how we punned) visiting a friend working there at the moment. We drank buckets of wine (and went wine tasting which I’d never done before, it was really fun), went to the markets and ate more cheese than I thought was possible in four days. It was excellent.  My next trip is to Moscow/St Petersburg in july but I’m hoping to cram in a weekend in Berlin too. At some point. We’ll see!

Bright lights, bright tights

It’s our last night in Davos so we popped out to take some photos of the funny light sculptures they have in town. In proper winter there’s an ice rink in the middle of them I hear. It was -7°C but my sweet yeti snowboots saved me from freezing (they’re not something I would wear in civilised society, mind you) since I clearly wasn’t dressed for going out, but for lounging around the flat. And I’m wearing tights not a neon tan!

Something a bit different

At the end of last year I made a zine for a uni project. I meant to print it and sell some copies, but it never happened and I kind of forgot all about it. Since being in Switzerland I’ve been going through folders on my laptop tidying things up, so I thought I might as well post this. The A to Z theme is pretty self explanatory, a double page (about something I like) per letter . All photos and drawing are by me, apart from the picture of a photocopier that I stole from google images and the vintage postcards that came from a big box in the loft.
